Jules Fincham

Cycle Wild Scotland is now into its third successful year as the demand for mountain bike qualifications, coaching and consultancy continues to expand worldwide. The driving force behind the company is Jules Fincham.

Jules, who is the director and coach of Cycle Wild Scotland, is one of the
UK's top outdoor adventure coaches. A senior tutor with the Scottish
Mountain Bike Leader Association, he has worked closely with the SMBLA since the Association's foundation and has been influential in its development.

During 12 years at Glenmore Lodge, Sportscotland's national centre, Jules was responsible for creating and developing their MTB syllabus and facilities. His period as head of MTB at Glenmore Lodge saw Jules
mastermind the design and build of the first purpose-built skills coaching
trail in the UK. Fittingly, the new facility was named the Jules Fincham
Trail.

In addition to training and assessing guides and aspirant guides, Jules
regularly guides trips abroad, mostly in the Alps but also in Canada and new for this year, Andalusia in Spain. His latest venture is the Bike School based at Laggan's Wolftrax, where he is also the Head Coach and President of the Wolfpax MTB Club.

Jules is also a tutor for Cycling Scotland, a Scottish Executive initiative to encourage biking in all its forms.

With his experience of all aspects of coaching, management and development, Jules is also much in demand as an advisor on biking for public and private sector organisations. Recent work includes the design and build of a trail for an outdoor training company in Perthshire and consultancy work for the Outward Bound organisation.

Through his lifelong passion with adventure sports and the wild places of
the world, Jules has developed his coaching repertoire to include national and international coaching qualifications in mountaineering, rock climbing, skiing and paddlesports.
