![]() Winter Riding ModuleBooking Form - inc. terms & conditions The Winter Module is an add-on award designed to enable qualified Trail Cycle Leaders (TCLs) and Mountain Bike Leaders (MBLs) to work outside the awards’ ‘summer conditions only’* remit and to work in defined ’intermediate’ and ‘winter’ conditions, while still subject to the remit of their leader award. Assessment *The conditions covered by the (SMBLA) awards and the winter module are differentiated as follows: Summer Intermediate Intermediate conditions include occasions when some snow (e.g. a light dusting or avoidable patches) or brief freezing conditions (e.g. an overnight frost) are either prevalent or forecast. Winter Winter conditions include occasions when a more substantial layer of snow (e.g. to several inches) or longer lying snow, and prolonged freezing conditions are either prevalent or forecast.
Candidates will be expected to attend the course adequately prepared to lead a ride in winter conditions. Kit lists will be provided with joining instructions and the SMBLA manual also contains information on equipment.
