Trail Cycle Leader Award
Trail Cycle Leaders are qualified to lead groups of up to 6 riders throughout Scotland and the UK as outlined below:
On public highways, way-marked routes, rights-of-way on which cycles are permitted, identifiable routes, tracks and trails with obvious navigational features and with low to medium technical difficulty. The award covers normal summer conditions. These routes will be 90-95% rideable and take the group no more than 30 minutes walk by a reasonably fit person away from a shelter with communication, and to be no more than 600 metres in height. They will not involve cycling activity of more than one day’s length.
The TCL consists of a two day training course, followed by a one day assessment.
Coach : rider ratio - 1:8 (max) - Training
Coach : rider ratio - 1:4 (max) - Assessment
Holders of a Trail Cycle Leader Award may progress to the Mountain Bike Leader award which entails a further 2 days training and one day assessment.
WHY NOT COMBINE YOUR TCL TRAINING WITH A HOLIDAY IN THE ALPS – FOR THE SECOND YEAR, JULES IS RUNNING A COURSE WITH FLOW MTB BASED IN MORZINE FROM 14TH TO 21 JUNE - THE COURSE INCLUDES TCL TRAINING PLUS 2 DAYS GUIDED RIDES WITH SKILLS TUITION. ALL STUDENTS WILL BE STAYING IN A LOVELY CATERED CHALET LOOKED AFTER BY YOUR HOSTS, GUY & SARAH.
